Illegal in Canada but perfectly fine in Uganda...


As much as I wish I could say this sort of thing is uncommon, it's really not. Ugandan roads and trafific are...interesting. To put it mildly.

This picture was taken on the "road" between Kamuli and Kampala. One of the reasons that Kamuli is so poor is that there is only one major road linking it to other parts of Uganda.There aren't a lot of people able to come in to provide competition for produce, so the price is kept low. Growers are stuck having to sell their produce for whatever price the middlemen feel like offering. It sucks.

On a random note, tomorrow I am going to my friend Joseph's place in one of the surrounding villages for "lunch". Apparently he is coming at "exactly 8am" to come get me. I asked him if that was African time or Western time...I will be shocked if he is here before 11am...
