Morning at St. Joseph's...

One of the themes of living in Uganda is the constant struggle for school fees that children, youth and their parents undergo. There are literally hundreds of thousands of bright, capable students who are working hard to raise the school or university fees that will lift them out of poverty.

Part of the Hope Never Runs Dry program that I work with involves providing support for 12 children orphaned by HIV/AIDS to attend vocational training school. I visited three youth at their schools on Friday. They took me on a tour and showed me what they are learning.
This is Sieed. He is training at St. Joseph's Technical Institute to be a bricklayer. When he graduates the two-year diploma, he will be virtually guaranteed a job and will be able to earn a stable income.

This is Rachael. She has also been orphaned by HIV/AIDS, and is studying tailoring at St. Joseph's. She is a bright and friendly girl who happily showed me around her school, as well as the different sort of supplies that the students use.
