In Canada, your average biscuits and bread advertise themselves as containing "0g of fat! No Sugar added!"
Not so much in Uganda. The picture below are bisuits I was served on a day trip to a remote fishing village on Lake Achoga today. They are called Gluco-Max biscuits. I ate them With Mountain Dew. And as a side note, I need to point out that it is the height of bad manners to refuse food when being welcomed as a visitor.
I have no idea how I will return to Canada with anything remotely resembling a figure.
The most common bread in the supermarket here in Kamuli has the tag line "Fortified with extra sugar and fat!"
(Someone also tried to send me away with a live hen today, but fortunately it would have been difficult to take back on the motorcycle)
Thanks for the comments and I will answer the questions you've been sending in an upcoming post.
